Photography road trip through Kazakhstan

Keeper
I'm finally heading out to Kazakhstan for a massive landscape photography project. The plan is to hit the Charyn Canyon and a bunch of remote spots around Almaty over two weeks. Carrying all my camera gear on public transit sounds like a complete struggle for my timeline. Does anyone know where to get a decent vehicle that can handle those long desert roads?

The distances between those canyons are massive, and the sun can be pretty brutal during the peak hours. Those mountain passes require a lot of focus because the weather changes in a heartbeat. You should look for a 4x4 with good ground clearance to navigate the unpaved sections and avoid any trouble. Just keep the tank full since finding a pump in the middle of the steppe is pretty rare.

The scale of the landscape is similar to the vast regions in Russia where you can drive for hours without seeing a soul. The wide open spaces are the best part of the trip, but you'll spend a lot of time moving between the different natural landmarks. Sticking to the main highways is easy enough, but the real scenery is often tucked away on the gravel trails in Kazakhstan. You can find plenty of options for a rent a car in Kazakhstan here https://getrentacar.com/en-US/kazakhstan . This platform lets you pick out a specific model from local owners or fleets. You can compare the daily rates and check all the details before you arrive. It is a solid way to ensure you have a ride ready for the journey.
